When we launched the Jeffrey Campbell site–and after a few runs of images and testing we new we needed a web presence that was overthetop, fierce, glamazon-esque and fashion forward. We have always wanted a look that read “street-heavy” from head to toe–and for our last two revamps we have gone to NYC hair guru Daniele Marino. You can read more about him and his work on his new site http://www.danielemarino.com/ and below he sat with NYC JC team member Ty McBride to discuss hair, guys, NYCizzle and working it out! You can also contact Daniele at info@danielemarino.com in regards to commercial booking or for his availability at his UWS salon location. Enjoy the read cause this kid is genius!

The following convestaion took place between Ty McBride and Daniele Marino in NYC–December 2009. The two sat mid-day tucked in a dark corner of an East Village bar shooting the shit and watching the day-timers drink it real good. Enjoy.
TEN QUICK QUESTIONS WITH HAIR-MASTER DANIELE MARINO
TMC: The word on the street is that are you are 21–how did you break into the industry being so young….
DM: Well, I was always fascinated by hair….My hair job was at five–doing my sisters braids. I started my first salon job at 14 and have been working my way up since. Cutting, styling and moving!
TMC: You are German? From Bavaria? Live uptown, cut on the UWS and work all over the city? Is this correct? Busy boy!
DM: (laughs) No, I am Italian, was born there, but did grow up in Bavaria. I moved into Berlin at 17—I currently live in Harlem, love it, and work all over this crazy city.

TMC: What is your ultimate hair dream?
DM:This is a tricky one? I could interpret this in so many ways….I guess…I would say…1. To own my own salon, 2. Work the tents for Bryant Park, 3. Style the cover of Italian Vogue, 4. and of course, do Heidi Klum’s hair!
TMC: If you were taking us for a night out to remember in Berlin where would we go?
DM: We would start off with a drink at Bangalou, this place is great for a drink but to als spot out all the new Berlin fashion trends from all the german queens—work! From there we would head to WEEKEND for an unforgetable view from the rooftop over East Berlin–coupled with great beats. We would of course end up at BERGHAIN–famous world over for the best clubbing almost anywhere. Berlin is full on.
TMC: Describe your personal style—because you definately are giving the look Mr. Marino.
DM: Hmmm, My style is classic with a twist! When I see something that I like, I don’t care who it is made for, I want it! I love a black jean, im a t-shirt boy, I love a printed dress shirts—and of course a scarf thrown in. I work a lot–I have to be mobile and on the go!
TMC: Where do you see hair trends going for spring 2010?
DM: Of course I look at collections and runway, but I like to bring my own thoughts to my clients hair each season. For this spring I see lots of muted colors, pale tones, and symetrical lines, strong lines.
TMC: Do you judge people on the train with bad hair? Be honest girl? Like…”oh shoot no she did not?”
DM: Not so much, NYC is busy and on the go–but sometimes I really wanna give people my card!
TMC: They say in NYC if you want one thing—and you work for it, you can really get it–what is your thing?
DM: I guess I just want to be the most successful I can.
TMC: And finally—spill the beans…our readers want to know, how does a boy like you work all day in 5 inch pumps?
DM: (laughing hysterically) It’s just something I do, when I love something, I do it all the way!
