We LOVE Britney here at the NYC showroom. On any given day you can catch us listening to any one of her six flawless pop records (our favorite is either Britney or In The Zone). We’re so happy to see her back on top of her game, and we can’t help feeling nostalgia for some of those classic Britney looks from yesteryear. Sure, Brit wasn’t always the most fashion-forward, but she was always doing her own thing, and wearing something uniquely Britney. Looking back, she started more trends than we realized, for better or worse, and whether it translated well to the general public, Ms. Spears always looked flawless. Join us on a trip down memory lane, through the many different fashion faces of this week’s style icon, Britney Spears…
Spring 1999. Britney takes her hit “…Baby One More Time” to the batting cages. The single broke records around the world, while her David LaChapelle pictorial in Rolling Stone caused a stir with the PTA.
Fall 1999. The world officially has Britney fever as her third single “Crazy” hits the top 10. So we know metallic tube tops are coming back, we just want to know when?! We’ve got ours ready and waiting.
2000. Britney’s sophomore album OOPS!…I Did It Again sells over 1 million albums in its first week. Her new found status as a pop icon scores Brit the cover of Elle.
2001. Brit trades in her school girl image for a more mature look, and sound, on her new single “I’m A Slave 4 U”…
…and embraces her darker side in this W spread. We love high fashion Britney!
2002. The new year saw Britney taking a break from music to focus on her first (and so far only) leading movie role in Crossroads. We love the Courtney Love baby-doll look Brit’s giving us here.
2003. But by the next year Britney was back on stage, playing the bride (with Christina Aguilera) to Madonna’s groom at the 2003 Video Music Awards.
2004. With the release of her fourth consecutive #1 album In The Zone, Britney was on top of the world and hotter than ever! Rocker Britney is one of our favorite looks. We’d still rock that classic leather moto jacket seven years later!
2008. After a break to start a family, and a few personal hiccups, Britney triumphed once more with the critically acclaimed Blacout and #1 album Circus. We love her look here in oversized denim and a simple AA tee.
2010. Brit goes Japanese “manga” for Pop Magazine and celebrates the success of her latest record Femme Fatale which critics say is her best yet. We’re obsessed with this photoshoot!
