We’re always searching for a new source of fashion inspiration, and glitter loving Mynxii White, with her candy colored hair and –some may say- outrageous outfits is filling more than our eye candy void. From go-go dancing to photo shoots with Zombie Boy himself, Mynxii is out on the town turning every head, but don’t deem her your typical LA party girl. Mynxii is a contributor to our fav English dark style blog and magazine StyleNoir, and a pro makeup artist with a seriously impressive portfolio. We had a chance to catch up and find out just what makes her tick – check it out!

JC: How would you describe your style?
MYNXII:Ever since I can remember, I have been drowning in a sea of sequins. Drowning is probably a bit of a harsh word since this is something I do by choice. Swimming… swimming in an endless sea of glitter and sequins is a better fit. I grew up with dance classes for poise and balance, but it only led to a borderline drag queen lifestyle. Who knew that ballet lessons would pave the way to a future of fashion and unicorn flavored hair extensions, makeup brushes, and enough rhinestones to make RuPaul blush? I’m not really one to follow verbatim “what’s cool” since things are always changing. I wear what I like, whether it’s something buttoned up and conservative one day, or something a little more “trashy chic” the next. I’m a sort of hodgepodge of mismatched style, with some sort of sparkle or sequined something on top. My motto is “cute is a lifestyle, not an after 5 activity”, so I make sure everything I keep in my closet can be mixed and matched and always looking put together.
As my favorite icon Karl Lagerfeld said:

JC: As a writer for StyleNoir you’ve been able to cover global fashion weeks, and all the dark arts of fashion. What do you like about it the most?
MYNXII: I really love the way darker designers push boundaries and create new style, paving the way for the future of fashion. It’s interesting to see how the strange, over time, is what is quickly becoming “normal” and finally pioneering new trends. After taking inspiration from every past generation, what is next? From the individual art of Alexander McQueen to the enigmatic designs of Rick Owens, the obscure is feeding a new, abstruse esthetic.

JC: You’re a pro makeup artists too, so we’re sure you have a ton of great tips, and crazy stories! What are your top tips, and what is the craziest thing you’ve ever had to do on the job?
MYNXII: The one thing I can recommend is to just have fun! At the end of the day, it’s just makeup, and mistakes can always be fixed. We’re not saving the world with a makeup brush, we’re just making it a little more appealing, so there is no reason to put so much pressure on a perfect face! Throw a little glitter on it, and no one will know the difference (trust me, it works in a rush).
The craziest, and probably the most fun I’ve had was working with one of my favorite photographers, Austin Young, on a project called “Tranimal”. We took each model and took turns adding ridiculous pieces, like one giant collage of things that didn’t make sense. It reminded me that makeup is supposed to be entertaining, and shouldn’t be so serious!

JC: What are your 3 summer must haves?
MYNXII: I can’t imagine an off day without a glass of champagne – as “bourgeois” as that may sound, a refreshing adult beverage is a nice way to wind down on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Good company is always a big must. The people I surround myself with are the ones that constantly inspire and push me to do better, so a friend fix is always in order! I’m a firm believer in the power in numbers, and success is never a solo project. I’m blessed to have friends that I aspire to be like, and keep me exited about a growing future!
As dull as this may sound, my last must have is my work. It’s important to stay grounded and not get whisked away in all that is summer, because when it is over, what do you have left? I’m blessed to be able to do what I love; the makeup and the writing have led me to so many motivational people and situations that I could not go a single week without another mini life adventure! It makes the down time feel earned and oh so sweet.

JC: What is your favorite pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s?
MYNXII: My favorite pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s are most definitely the spiked Litas. I want them in every color, they make everything look so good! I have my eye on the spiked Night Walk platforms next…little do they know they will make a stunning new victim of my closet!
