Ria Michelle is a Miami girl whose style packs a punch – usually in the form of a bright, bold lip! We love her playful mix of 90s grunge and beachy bohemian, giving us a fresh breath of summer air that we sure need in the winter months. We had a chance to catch up with her a midst NYFW madness, which if you follow Ria on Instagram, you’ll know she was lucky enough to attend!
JC: How would you describe your style?
Ria: My style is adaptable. I dress for my mood but it’s usually bold, moody and playful.

JC: Was this year’s NYFW your first? What was your favorite part?
Ria: This is my 4th season of NYFW. My favorite part was taking it easy actually and just enjoying New York and my bloggers who were in town. It’s a great time to connect with people you know from online and build real world relationships. My favorite show was definitely Herve Leger which was surprising for me but I absolutely want so much of what they presented.

JC: How do you think living in Miami influences your style?
Ria: Living in Miami has definitely influenced my style. I used to wear a lot of black and not much color being from up north and a former “goth” haha. Now I play so much with color. Of course the climate has me in crop tops and loose flowy pieces a lot so I like to play with proportions to keep that interesting.
JC: What are 3 things you never leave the house without?
Ria: My iphone, lipstick, a backup lipstick hahaha.

JC: What trend are you currently loving? Which do you wish would just go away?
Ria: I love the 90s. For Halloween last year I dressed up as Dionne. I sat for 12 hours to get braids, got green contacts the works. I feel like I’ve been permanently stuck in the 90s ever since. I definitely don’t want it to go anywhere. I want bindi’s as a fashion accessory to go away. For real, for real.

(Editor’s Note: This costume is perfect. Like, completely.)
JC: What are your favorite pair of JCs?
Ria: My favorite JC’s are the Potions…maybe they were my first pair…it’s been so long I can’t remember but I’m looking to buy a backup pair because mine are falling apart.

JC:Any advice for aspiring bloggers?
Ria: It’s been said but be authentic. Don’t start a blog to be famous, get free stuff etc. People will see through you.
