Hey JC lovers, I missed you last week! I’m back with some visual stimulation for your viewing pleasure. If [...]
Winding down from our trip to Las Vegas, and our big NY trade-show last week, we didn’t quite find the time to squeeze in Friday’s Style Like U post. Fortunately, we got into the kitchen and re-arranged some things – Cher from Clueless style – and are able to bring you our latest JC x [...]
Hiii JC girls & boys. I’m so happy to be back interning and blogging for Jeffrey Campbell for the spring semester! If you don’t know me, I’m Sophia, currently an intern with JC, a student at Parsons, lifestyle blogger, and a little fashion wanderer. I thought I’d kick off this reintroduction with a recap on [...]
One part delicious food, one part amazing fashion, LUXIRARE is definitely the better dressed Sporty Spice for a new generation. This girl is so next level, we want to throw away anything printed or colorful we have and strictly wear sneakers, Acne jeans and a leather hoody so we know what it’s like to be [...]
One of the fiercest sites from down-under – STYLESTALKER – used our cosmic Lita in their new look book. While they don’t actually sell any shoes on their site, we love how well they fit with these looks. Check out some of the highlights from the look book below, and view the entire thing over [...]

Leah’s a designer, stylist and co-founder of Neon Angeles, where she regularly blogs (www.theneonangels.com). We’re so happy she’s blogging with us in February and can’t [...]
In preparation for the re-launch of both of our websites, we teamed up with our friends from ENVI SHOES to shoot a look-book featuring exclusive Envi x JC styles. Blessed with unseasonably warm weather, an amazingly talented and fun crew, and the coolest backyard in Brooklyn, the shoot was one of our best! Now we [...]
One of our favorite parts about our job is that we get to scour the web for the coolest blogs and web content out there. We have so many favorites it would probably take a decade to post about them all, but we’re getting there one fierce blog at a time. Our latest crush is [...]
And now the fun part… Sure we love launching new campaigns, and we love hearing your reaction, but what’s better than getting to take home some new shoes? Almost all the styles from our spring 2012 Wouldn’t It Be Nice look book have shipped to stores, and now we’re giving you a chance to shop [...]
Over the next few weeks, right here on our blog, you’ll be treated to updates from our latest Guest Blogger: Style Like U. We’ll be featuring some of our favorite closets and take a glimpse into how some of the most fashionable people around style their looks with JC shoes. Check out this teaser featuring [...]
We’re pretty obsessed with Instagr.am right now. And to lovers of all things twitter, tumblr and iPhones, we can only assume you share our most recent infatuation. It’s just so addicting to snap a photo and share it on the go! Here at JC we have two instagrams: jeffreycampbell and thedamnedshoes. Check out some of [...]
Rainbows never really went out of style, but they definitely had some bright moments throughout the years. Some of our favorites were of course Rainbow Bright, Mariah Carey’s Rainbow, Lindsay Lohan’s Herve Leger bandage dress, and Christopher Kane’s current collection. And we’re totally into rainbows here at JC. Just look at our new POPO sandal from EDGE OF URGE. We’ll be wearing these for sure all summer long with our mini-backpacks and white Kurt Cobain sunglasses. Now that’s some serious rainbow pride!
If you had to ask us what our FAVORITE trend from the 90s was, we would most def go with butterfly print. We immediately think back to our butterfly baby tees, Mariah Carey, and best of all, lower back tats. This season, we made sure to touch on this moment of the past in both [...]
A lot of our favorites, and a few new surprises wowed us on the red carpet at the 18th annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards last night. Traditionally this is the show where celebs like to mix it up and get a little more experimental with their looks. There wasn’t too much craziness, but there were some muy major red carpet moments. Check out our favorites below, and let us know your top picks for best dressed at the SAG Awards.
Cher is awesome. She’s definitely one of the coolest ladies of all-time, and we’re definitely still seeing tons of her influence in fashion and street style. She’s still making music and movies, and still dressing crazy and is in her mid-60s. She’s won an Oscar, had a #1 pop hit when she was in her 50s, and has provided us with some of our favorite karaoke moments of all time. We love Cher in any decade, but we’re most in love with 60s, 70s and 80s Cher and here are just a handful of examples of how awesome she actually is…
We can’t wait for Sleigh Bells’ sophomore album REIGN OF TERROR to come out in February. In the mean time check out the amazing new video for their single “Comeback Kid”
We’re not exactly what to make of the self-proclaimed “Gangsta Nancy Sinatra” just yet, but we are drawn to her, we love her sound, and that in and of itself is something to give credit for. It’s kind of like that feeling we had when we first laid our eyes and ears on Britney or Gaga. We’re intrigued. And we’ll admit it, we can’t stop listening to LDR’s freshly-leaked album Born To Die
For those of you outside of the UK, HARVEY NICHOLS is this amazing department store that’s been open since the 1800s. It carries the likes of some of our favorite designers aka Acne, Givenchy and Alexander McQueen. And now, Jeffrey Campbell can be added to that list with our new arrivals at HARVEY NICHOLS. Think of this store like the UK equivalent of Barney’s – now do you believe us when we tell you it’s major? From Litas to Brits and everything in between, HARVEY NICHOLS has meticulously curated their JC selection to make sure everyone’s tastes are satisfied. Check out some of their selection below, and click HERE for the HARVEY NICHOLS ONLINE JC SHOP.
Obsession. That’s how we currently feel about CALVIN KLEIN. Even though CK began back in the late 60s, the designer hit his prime in the 90s with his simple, yet brilliant clothing and advertising. It was the perfect balance to the over-the-top Versace empire, and we love that both houses are having such huge and well deserved comebacks. So here’s a look back at some of our all-time favorite CK moments starting with Brooke Shields’ famous ads from the early 80s and leading up to our current favorite, Jennifer Lawrence’s flawless Oscar debut last year, and everything in between…
“Need. Need. Need.” That’s what it sounded like in our NY office when we took one look at the new arrivals page at NEED SUPPLY. One of the highlights of doing tradeshows is when the buyers from Need Supply stop by because we absolutely love their refined taste and fashion sense. As you can clearly see, that translates amazingly well to their current stock! Take a look at some of our favorite new arrivals below, and make sure to click HERE for the whole shebang at NEED SUPPLY.
Just when you thought you’d seen it all, we thought we’d show you just a little bit more. We’re talking about the clear Lita aka CLEATA, of course, and it’s available now in nude leather at ENVI SHOES and nude, silver and black at SOLESTRUCK. We first showed you a glimpse of CLEATA in our SS12 WOULDN’T IT BE NICE LOOK BOOK, and now the wait is over to make CLEATA your own. Check out the pics below, pick out your fav color-way, and head over to ENVI or SOLESTRUCK before they’re gone baby gone.
Listen up UK JC Girls: OFFICE has got some amazing new arrivals! The go-to place in the UK for JCs just got some of our hottest JC signature styles, and you’re not going to want to miss out. Whether you’re looking for the NIGHT-WALK, the SPIKE or the ROCKAWAY, these styles have officially invaded the UK. “Litamania!” if you will! Check out pics of OFFICE’s new arrivals below, and visit their JC online store HERE for free delivery!
As your Shadow crosses mine… Every time we launch a campaign, there’s one shoe that’s just a little bit crazier than the rest. Let’s face it, we love them all and we could never actually choose a favorite, but this shoe is the one you definitely notice first. Leather and spikes galore. The perfect amount of coverage. And of course, that missing heel! Well ladies, the wait is over to get your paws on the SHADOW because it’s now available from KARMALOOP.COM. But wait, there’s more… Not only does K-Loop have the Shadow you saw in our SS12 look book, but they’ve also got it in BLACK PATENT LEATHER for all our Heavy Metal Lovers out there.
One of our favorite styles for Spring ’11 is the AMANDA-2, available now in black at STRUT OF NY or nude at EILATAN. It’s basic enough to go with about anything, but has enough of an edge to take your look to the next level. We love the curved heel, and the diamond cut-out, and it’s easily become our go-to going out shoe. Another Amanda we’re obsessed with is Amanda Woodward aka Heather Locklear from Melrose Place. We recently revisited the entire original 1992-1999 series on NetFlix instant-watch, and we highly recommend you do the same! I mean, the fashion alone…
Red carpet season has officially begun, with the GOLDEN GLOBES last Sunday. With the GRAMMYS, SCREEN ACTOR’S GUILD AWARDS, and OSCARS not very far off, we know we’ll be seeing tons of major looks coming down the red carpet, and we’re excited to tell you which ones we loved the most. Our picks for best dressed at the GGs all have one thing in common: each best dressed star heavily played to their personal style strengths, and rocked looks that only they could get away with… at least get away with as well as they did.
How much is that Jeffrey in the window? Head on down to 2 West 14th St. (between 5th and 6th Ave) and see for yourself! STRUT OF NY has all the hottest new JC styles just waiting for you to take home. If you liked the LINDY or AMANDA-2 from our new look book, look no further than STRUT if you’re in the NYC area. Did we mention this is also RIHANNA’s go-to-place in NYC for all her Jeffrey Campbell needs? Check out some pics we snapped at our last visit below, but trust us, with a selection so amazing, and a staff so friendly, STRUT OF NY is MUCH better in person!
At the tail end of 2011 two new female MC’s made their debut in the game with similar names, but vastly different flows and styles. Azaelia Banks burst onto the scene with “212″ an infectious and relentless hard-hitting and wonderfully meandering ode to her Harlem roots. Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea the Amazon from Australia came hard with her mix-tape ignorant art featuring heavy beats, and a mile-a-minute flow. While the most similar thing about these two rappers is their name, we’re fans of both and can’t wait to see how their style, both musically and fashion-wise evolves in the new year. Check out some of our favorite looks from the two so far.
Yo New York in the house! If you live here in NYC you probably know that David Z is one of THE places to get your latest pair of JCs, right? And if you didn’t know, now you do so you have no excuse to not to visit one of David Z’s six(!!!) locations in New York (there are also 2 in New Jersey for our friends to the west). David Z carries the hottest new JC styles, and the stores have an amazing one of a kind New York vibe. Oh yeah, did we mention that Biggie Smalls used to shop here? For more info check out DAVIDZ.COM, and check out some of the pics we snapped last week when we visited DZ ourselves!
It’s no secret that we’ve been in love with floral prints for a long time. And we mean really long. Like since we were in third grade kind of long. Sure, we got a little confused when we hit middle school and the big kids convinced us that goth was where it was at, but one day we mustered the courage looked them dead in the eye and introduced them to our red floral and black suede McCarthy backpack. Yes, that day was today and not in 8th grade, but hey they were pretty intimidating 8th graders. But check it out, we’re big kids now and bullying is out like last year’s wardrobe, and we’re obsessing over the new handbag arrivals from JC at KARMALOOP. Floral print? Check. Denim Studs? Check. If only we really did dress this cool in middle school, we would’ve been Tavi before Tavi could type!
Just a little screen shot to hold you over until our SS12 look book launches next week…..hold tight!
The New Year has barely begun but already we have some exciting new arrivals from our friends EDGE OF URGE. Our JC Boys will be excited for the DUST MAN in AMERICAN FLAG PRINT and TRIBAL FABRIC and ladies, are you ready for TARDY in LAVENDER SUEDE?… An Edge of Urge exclusive! Check out these and more over at EDGE OF URGE today!
Looking ahead to 2012 is very exciting for a number of reasons. We’ve got a lot of surprises in store for you in the new year, that will begin to unfold in the coming weeks. One of them is an in-the-works collaboration with one of our favorite style websites, STYLE LIKE U. We can’t tell you too much more about it, but we thought we’d whet your appetite with their latest profile, MIA CHRISTIANA from our good friends at WASTELAND. Check out these amazing photos from inside Mia’s closet, and for more from STYLE LIKE U check out their website HERE, and keep your eyes peeled on our website for more info on the collab…
A couple posts ago I mentioned the debut of Lady Gaga’s, “Gaga’s Workshop” at Barney’s in New York City. This weekend I had a chance to join the little monsters (elves) and visit this avant garde workshop. The Men’s 5th floor in Barney’s turned into an acid trip GAGAland, where everything was bright, vibrant and totally off the wall.
We can’t believe the year is merely days away from being over. We’re so excited to see what 2012 brings us, but we need to take a moment to look back at what amazing year 2011 has been. From music to fashion, it’s been a game-changing year. We even threw in some of our favorite JC landmark moments too!
We love these pics from Baltimore’s MA PETITE SHOE featuring BERYL in grey and nude by JC as well as the ALL-NIGHT and MARTIN handbags from our EX-CRUSHES collection. We hope everyone found the perfect shoe for their holiday parties, but if not, check out the JC CAPSULE COLLECTION at MPS for any last minute purchases or gift ideas. The BERYL is also the perfect heel for an NYE gatherings you might be attending to ring in 2012. Stop by MA PETITE SHOE today for these any more!
We’re loving the new LF winter 2011 look book. The blues and whites are the perfect compliment to the warmer holiday colors you see everywhere. And the look book cover itself looks like the lost holiday album cover of a late 90s/early 00s pop-star in the best way possible AKA this look book makes us feel super nostalgic for our middle school years, which were always super warm and fuzzy during the holidays.
Check out this blog post from our friends over at KARMALOOP. It’s a very Gaga Holiday season for our K-Loop buds, and we LOVE it! Plus we can’t get over how good our Lita-Flame looks against pine trees and a red and green backdrop. Check out some of the pics below, and read the whole thing HERE!
I had this really exciting post all planned and what not [tradeshow photos!] but unfortunately my hard drive crashed last night… picture me crying in the apple store, yes real life. So, I probably won’t get my computer back for a few days (I’ve been borrowing my roommate’s- thanks Chiara!!) and I’m keeping my fingers crossed like cray cray to see if they will be able to retrieve any of my information. If the hard drive isn’t completely toast, I’ll post some belated tradeshow photos on a later date- pinky swear.
We’re lovin’ the new arrivals over at ENVI. We have a big thing for shoes with tasteful cut-outs, and these styles are perfect if you feel the same way. Our new favorite of the bunch has got to be COLTRANE in black leather. Amazing with a festive pair of heavy socks in the colder months, and equally as major without socks come spring and summer. The chunky, work-boot heel also brings us back to the 90s in all the right ways. And we’re loving the hardware on this update to the Roscoe – another one of our all time favs.
Check out this rad video of all the action at AKIRA CHICAGO’S Hall of Mirror’s Fashion Show. Can you spot our Lita on the female models? What was your favorite look from the show?
There were two very fashionable Manson’s in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Marilyn: shock/glam rock extraordinaire, and Shirley: lead singer of fashion pop output Garbage. While their music may have been vastly different, they both shared a love for fur, eyeliner and plenty of fashion-goth moments. Both artists have been rather quiet in recent years, but we would gladly welcome them back with open arms to the fashion scene, as both of their personal styles were extremely influential and eye-catching in the late 90s. Which Manson do you think had the better style?
Our friends at SOLESTRUCK are working around the clock to make sure all our JC Girls get their shoes in time for the holidays. They even took some time to throw together a crazy cute look book highlighting some of our favorite holiday styles! Check out some the slides below, or head over to SOLESTRUCK to see the entire thing HERE. Also, make sure you click on the super cute behind-the-scenes SS holiday video “In The Spirit.”
Our friends from Poland just sent us some amazing images interpreting fall in Europe. With our Spring 2012 photo-shoot coming up this weekend, this is the perfect inspiration, although they may already be giving us a run for our money! We love the grunge meets prep styling, the piles of clothes, and of course the JCs! What do you think, should we team up with our Polish buddies for the next campaign? We think it’s a yes, especially if we get to go to Poland to shoot it!
Want JC’s you can’t get anywhere else? One of our favorite online retailers is SF based ASHBURY SKIES, and they’ve got some great styles, perfect for winter on either coast! What are you wearing to those holiday parties this year? It looks like the Tardy in Tartan is a front-runner and has already gone viral! We re-blogged some images of it yesterday on our tumblr. It’s definitely a favorite of ours and we will be rocking it at all of our holiday parties this year!
Since the official The Damned lookbook launched just a few weeks ago, I thought it’d be fun to share some of the behind the scenes photos that I took while I assisted the shoot… And If you guys aren’t already thoroughly exhausted (in an awesome way) from the Versace x H&M collab, keep your spirits up because in store March 8th will be the H&M x MARNI collaboration! I’m crazy excited!
ENVI never skimps on the height, or outrageous-ness and that’s why we’re so obsessed! They always have our hottest new styles in stock. This time around, ENVI is offering some of our favorites from our RESORT 2012 LOOK BOOK and more. And after watching Lady Gaga’s “Marry The Night” music video, we’ve fallen back in love with the NIGHT WALK heel. Check out all the amazing JC shoes ENVI has to offer HERE and check out our new arrivals picks below! Be envied!
It was only a matter of time before our JC Girls took their creativity to the next level like this. We’re talking about the muy, muy major new tumblr CUSTOM-LITAS of course. We’re always coming out with new colors, fabrics and patterns on our #1 style, but we’re not quite sure how we’re going to keep up with this! We love it! A Nicki Minaj Lita? A unicorn-in-the-clouds Lita? Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes. Sadly they aren’t real, but maybe one day we’ll be able to make one or two of these! Check out some of our favorites below, and for the whole she-bang head on over to CUSTOM-LITAS.TUMBLR.COM. Werrrk!
London is one of the coolest places on Earth, and we’re so excited that OXYGEN BOUTIQUE, one of the best stores in Londontown included us in their Spring/Summer look book. We love how OB styled this shoot, and we’ll definitely be stealing some of the looks when the weather gets a little warmer here in NY. Better yet, we’d love to rock any of these looks in the UK! Check out some of our favorite shots from the look book below, and visit OXYGEN BOUTIQUE’S online shop HERE!
You really came through for us! Job well done y’all. For those who missed it, we asked our JC Girls and Boys to e-mail us their best JC-inspired Street Style look by 3:30 EST today so we could show you some love on our blog. For those who missed the deadline, don’t fear! We’ll definitely be doing this again, judging from the amazing response we got. So take a look at the lucky ones who made it on including our summer 2011 intern, Brittany! And ladies, I think Javier in his heels might be giving y’all a run for your money, so step your game up! Seriously though, you all look amazing as per usual! Keep it up!!!
Our friends over at I DON’T LIKE MONDAYS specialize in more than simply living by Garfield’s motto. In fact they have one of the best online shops around, stocking some of our favorite brands, in one of our favorite colors to wear: black! It’s true, we love us some colorful prints and patterns too, but black NEVER goes out of style, and the refined goth look – exemplified by our friend JERALYN MASON – is what it’s all about over at IDLM. We’re obsessed with this look and have picked out some of our favorites from IDLM that we think you’ll love too.
Hey guys,
I’ve been waiting too long to show you one of the biggest perks of being a JC intern besides hanging out with Bridgette and Conor … the shoes! My chin honestly dropped to the floor when I saw these babies in a big white bag labeled “gifts for soph”.. these EXPELLED boots by Jeffrey Campbell are selling now on soletruck.
Our last ALBUM COVER POST was such a hit, we decided to do another one. We LOVE a good album cover here at JC NY, and there truly are too many great ones to keep track of. We decided that for this round we would focus on our women who rock from the past through the present. Keep in mind, these are just SOME of our favorites, and we know going into this that we are missing a ton of amazing album covers from our favorite songstresses. We hope you like these posts, as we will most likely be doing many more like this in the future.
One part outfit posts, one part throwback editorial, and a dash of DIY. That’s how we would sum up one of our favorite blogs, and this week’s JC Blog Crush, STOP IT RIGHT NOW. With a minimal, yet meticulously put together vibe, this girl always looks flawless, and has curated an aesthetic that both inspires and makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside. We’d love to raid her closet, and her cassette case iPhone dock is beyond brilliant (we’re digging out our old cassettes to copy this idea as we speak). We’ve compiled some of our favorite images from her recent posts, but do yourself a big favor and acquaint yourself with SIRN right NOW!
Here at JC, we always make it a point to look at every runway show from New York, London, Milan and Paris every season. After a while you start noticing the same models across the board walking the catwalk. Then you start seeing your favorites everywhere in magazines, and on billboards, and you wonder how it took you so long to notice someone so fierce. That’s how we feel about our obsession with Dutch model Daphne Groeneveld. Whether she’s working the runway at Rick Owens, shooting with Tom Ford for Vogue Paris, or giving face for Versace x H&M, this girl is gorgeous as well as versatile! Check out some of our favorite Daphne Groeneveld moments below, and watch out for her – we have a feeling she’s going to be everywhere soon! Oh yeah, this girl is only 16!
We’ve been teasing you for months now, and the day is finally here. It’s our first ever men’s look book! We took to the streets – and bars – of New York, braved the rain, and shot all night to capture the true essence and attitude of this line. Our model, Jeffrey strapped on some of our favorite men’s shoes as we dressed him in everything from vintage to Versus, and Topman to T by Alexander Wang. We love the final result, and hope you do too.
The wait is over for some of our hottest new Resort 2012 shoes. You caught a glimpse of what was coming in our LOVE AFFAIR WITH LOS ANGELES LOOK BOOK, now get your hands on the real thing thanks to the new arrivals at SOLESTRUCK. They just got in plenty of our favorites. Check out some of our picks below, and shop all the new arrivals HERE!
Hey guys,
For the past couple weekends I’ve been trying to do a little more exploring ie: going “gallery hopping” in the NYC Chelsea district and hopping on a plane to Florida for my grandpa’s 80th.
woooo hoo- par-tay.
One of our favorite neighborhood stores ALTER BROOKLYN just got in a new shipment of some amazing fall styles. Tis the season for suede, and ALTER’s got you covered with ELLIE MAY in black suede and PONY-UP in blue suede and orange suede. We love the stacked heel on all of these, and the distressed suede really pops in orange and blue! Don’t live in the area? No worries, ALTER now has an online store where all three styles are available for purchase! Check out ALTER BROOKLYN ONLINE today, and follow them on twitter @alterbrooklyn and their new tumblr HERE.
We were going to hold out on this, but it looks like it has been leaked to the blogosphere. So there you have it! Jeffrey Campbell x Wildfox Spring 2012! So fierce!
Have you been watching Up All Night? Not only is it hi-lar-i-ous, but we’re so glad our girl Christina Applegate is back with another hit. We’ve always been huge fans of her ever since her days in Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead and, of course, as Kelly Bundy in Married With Children. We’ll even sit down and watch The Sweetest Thing just to see her get super-ridiculous with Cameron D. And we gotta give big-ups to her for going head to head with Will Ferrell in Anchorman, all the while in a 70s power skirt-suit. What can we say? We love pretty girls with good style and a sense of humor! Even though Christina never stopped being fierce, our favorite Applegate style moments happened in the 90s during her Married… era (Brad Pitt is even involved in a few). Take a trip with us down memory lane as we bow down to the style icon behind Kelly Bundy: Christina Applegate.
…To the tune of our men’s designer’s mom’s favorite Gaga song “Boys, Boys, Boys” of course. And seeing how our latest hand-bag line is called EX-CRUSHES and all, we thought that song was more than fitting to express our excitement over all the new JC handbags that are hitting stores. And girl, do we have our bases covered this time around! From back-packs to mini-bags, leather satchels to woven clutches, from Hopi print to patchwork suede, metallic leather to diamond fabric, we’ve got a bag for your every need! NEED SUPPLY gives you some major clutch options with MIKE and IAN-WEST, and of course one of our favs – the round, cross-body satchel TRIP-2. REVOLVE, on the other hand keeps it sportier with the famous McCARTHY back-pack and our new CHEATER back-pack.
Whenever we style a look book shoot and it’s the night before and we still need the perfect pieces to bring everything together, this girl always gets us out of a jam. Meet Kate Papineau from LF SoHo. We’re kind of obsessed with everything about her and we were lucky enough to grab her for an interview and a few snapshots outside her store a little while back. From her amazing hats to her 90210 (90s version) style tips, we can only ask the age old question: “Can we be like her when we grow up?”
Wocka, Wocka, y’all! Just in time for the new Muppet movie, JC has sent some FURRY, ANIMAL-LIKE TARDYS out into the world. While not actually a collaboration with Disney or the Muppets, this Tardy series instantly made us think of our favorite Jim Henson characters, who we are huge fans of. Check out the selection of Tardy Fur over at SOLESTRUCK, and if you love the Muppets as much as we do, check out their new movie on November 23rd! And for more Muppet goodness, we’re kind of obsessed with THE MUPPETS FOR OPENING CEREMONY available now!
I’ve been intrigued by this whole “short video” clip thing for a long time and never got around to acting on it, so last week I tried to explore my little iMovie application on my Mac computer for the first time. I “filmed” with the 8mm iPhone application, that made everything all rad and vintage looking (hehe). I promise these little montages will (hopefully) get better! These are all clips from the short time I’ve been here in NYC, (except from the opening beach scene–that’s home) from taxis, friends and Jeffrey Campbell.
Like many of you out there, our closet is half new, half vintage and we don’t know what we’d do without some of our favorite one-of-a-kind vintage and thrifted finds. Sometimes a vintage piece can really make an outfit, and since no one else has it, you’re guaranteed instant uniqueness while strutting about town. LES VINTAGE, named after the Lower East Side neighborhood of New York, is now online with some amaaaazing pieces at extremely affordable prices. What’s more is that they were kind enough to feature our very own Lita platform in ALL of their shots. You’ve probably seen them posting on our Facebook wall, so we thought it was time to give them an official shout-out on our blog. Check out some of their major vintage pieces below (some unfortunately have sold by now), and check out everything they have available on their website WWW.LESVINTAGE.COM!
That’s right! Our friends at NEED SUPPLY just got in the hottest shoe of the season, the JC x STOLEN GIRLFRIENDS CLUB EMMA BOOT. This western-inspired platform is sure to turn heads this fall and is extremely wearable with just about anything. Clearly we’re a bit obsessed with anything on the Lita heel, and we think the Fleur-du-Lis embellishment is the perfect replacement for a lace-up. Get your pair today over at NEED SUPPLY, and have another look at the amazing SGF Spring 2012 look book featuring the EMMA boot below!
Okay, we know we’re a little behind on Patti Smith’s Just Kids, but we’re busy folks, okay? We finally got around to cracking open the flawless Ms. Smith’s compelling and touching memoir about her relationship with fellow artist Robert Mappelthorpe, we’ve had a hard time putting it down. From their first meeting in Brooklyn, to their Chelsea Hotel home, this book is not only about the relationship between two people, but also the backdrop of late 1960s and 70s New York, and the explosive artistic and political climate of the time. We’ve said a few times before that if we could go back and live in any time period in any place, it would be tough not to pick 70s New York, so reading this is quite a treat for us. A rare glimpse into the hearts and minds of two of the most influential artists of the last century, Just Kids is JC approved!
You loved it on our Lita, so we thought, why not? Let’s make the most of this amazing kitten tapestry. That’s right, the Toni iPad case is now available in KITTEN TAPESTRY at PIXIE MARKET. It’s young professional, with a fun, cute edge. We love how each of the kittens have a different personality. We swear we didn’t make up voices for them! We think it’s so cute we convinced ourselves to get an iPad just for the case. And if you already have an iPad, what are you waiting for? Check out the Toni iPad case at Pixie Market HERE.
We brought you on a tour of downtown Los Angeles and Venice beach with or 2012 RESORT LOOKBOOK. Now Solestruck takes us to the Canary Islands with their LA ISLA BONITA look book featuring even more new JC Styles to hold you over during the cold winter months. Check out highlights of the amazing look book below, and the entire thing HERE. Also shop the pre-orders from the look book over at SOLESTRUCK PREORDERS.
Okay boys, you’ve been waiting for this. We’re officially launching THEDAMNEDSHOES.COM with an exclusive behind the scenes look at our look book shoot. Check out that post HERE and make sure to follow The Damned on twitter @THEDAMNEDSHOES and tumblr THEDAMNEDSHOES.TUMBLR.COM
This weekend I attended the Teen Vogue Fashion University as well as the College Music Jam, better known as “CMJ”, both in New York City. If you’re unfamiliar of what Teen Vogue Fashion University, its basically a swarm of fashion-obsessed teenagers (no teenie boppers—although they’re my favorite) gathering together to take notes on the industry featuring some of the biggest in the business with words of wisdom flowing out of the people like: the editors of Teen Vogue, Alexander Wang, Betsey Johnson, Michael Kors, supa famous bloggers, and many, many more. I thought it was all quite rad if I must say so myself… lets just say my blank notebook turned into a scribbled novel.
We have to give it up to our girl Donna Lisa from Wasteland in LA for being such an amazing guest blogger for October! For her last post, she went all out, putting together something really special and amazing for Halloween. Check it out below, and make sure to follow her on twitter @DONNA_LISA
Ready for an exclusive look at some brand new styles from both womens AND mens as well as some of our recent favorite handbags brought to you by yours truly, the JC NYC staff? Well ready or not, here we are. Don’t get too used to seeing our mugs on the blog, but we thought it would be fun to do an impromptu staff look book featuring styles from all three of our lines: JC, Ex-Crushes and The Damned. Check out our outfit mini-bios and photos below. And remember for all the latest JC shipments, look books and updates direct your attention to our twitter @JCSHOES and our men’s twitter @THEDAMNEDSHOES.
We have to admit, this was probably our album of the week a few weeks ago, since we began familiarizing ourselves with an advanced copy, but now that it’s out, we have to give it up for M83′s latest Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. Sticking with synths and an ethereal aesthetic, M83′s Anthony Gonzalez gave us a little more bang for our buck with this amazing double album, that may just be his best offering yet.
This weekend me, Nikki (Wasteland) and a few friends packed up our car and headed to Joshua Tree. For those who might not be familiar, Joshua Tree is two hours east of LA, and the perfect camping/spiritual/calming getaway…the kind of place you need a lot of “slashes” to describe. Most of our time was spent hiking, and discovering our spirit animals. Mine’s a WOLF! If you’ve never made the trip, I recommend you do…make a stop at Pappy and Harriets (bar) and check out Pioneer Town, which was built in 1946 as a movie set for western movies and is now the cutest little historical town.
Till next week y’all…
Xx,
DL
Award shows got a little out of control around the millennium. It seemed as if every month brought a slew of new award ceremonies on TV. We’re sure there was a difference between the Radio Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards, but really, did it matter? As the years went by the volume of these shows subsided a bit, and we were left with the majors that we really looked forward to: Oscars, Grammys, VMAs and a few others. One that we do really miss however, are the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards. With trophies handed out to stylish musicians, actors, models and designers alike, we’re super nostalgic for this over-the-top indulgence of a show that ran from 1995 to 2002. In the spirit of fashion fused with music, we decided to do a little music video retrospective of our own, highlighting some of our favorite and most fashionable music videos from years past and today featuring some of our favorite new arrivals from Nasty Gal
The countdown to the debut (and inevitable selling out) of the first Versace for H&M collection is officially on. With the collection hitting stores in less than a month, you can feel the excitement in the air. We can’t wait to raid the New York H&M stores on November 17th in hopes of getting our hands at at least something from this milestone collaboration. We love when designers bring the goods to more affordable stores (see Missoni and Proenza for Target, Lanvin and Comme des Garcons for H&M etc), and we’re IN. LOVE. with some of the 187 looks from the Versace collection. Here are just a few of the things we’ve got our eyes on, modeled perfectly by Abbey Lee Kershaw. Are you as excited as we are? See the entire collection HERE and tweet @JCSHOES and tell us your favorite look from the Versace for H&M collection! We have a feeling the new Night Walk in black snake at Solestruck will fit perfectly with these threads.
Remember that opening scene in Drive with “Nightcall”, that killer song by Kavinsky and Lovefoxxx? Well we’ve had it on repeat since we downloaded the soundtrack, and now our good friends at SOLESTRUCK just got in a shipment of something we can finally strut to that song in. That’s right, the Night Walk can now be yours in BLACK SNAKE, ROYAL BLUE VELVET, WINE VELVET, NUDE SUEDE, and of course, MULTI GLITTER! This new shape has been selling out everywhere, and we don’t see that slowing down any time soon! Not only are they ferosh as hale, they’re actually quite easy and comfortable to walk in. What do you think? Do we have another Lita on our hands?
The platinum locks, the studded wrists, and all that Margiela and Helmut Lang…we’ve got to give it up to Kate Lanphear, the senior style director for Elle magazine for her signature style that always keeps us breathless. Starting her career at Australian Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, Kate has evolved into a major power player on the fashion map, and has spawned a cult following among young fashion enthusiasts, us included! We’re sure you’ve seen plenty of “copy-Kates” around, and she’s even inspired a few fan blogs, including our favorite, FEAR LANPHEAR. If we had sum up this style icon in one word, it would simply be: Lanphearce!
We’ve been talking up our new men’s line, THE DAMNED for a few months now, and we’re closing in on the official launch of the line’s website and look book later this month. Until then, we’ve got to give it up to our men’s tumblr THEDAMNEDSHOES.TUMBLR.COM for hooking it up with sneak peaks of the shoes, and plenty of inspiration to set the tone for the dark and edgy aesthetic of the line. We think THE DAMNED is a great compliment to our women’s line, and can’t wait for you all to see it in all its glory! For now, check out some of our favorite recent re-blogs from THEDAMNEDSHOES.TUMBLR.COM and follow THE DAMNED on Twitter @THEDAMNEDSHOES.
We’re so excited to announce the launch of our latest look book HIGH VOLTAGE. We teamed up with the amazingly talented JUMP JIRAKAWEEKUL who brought our capsule collection of neon bags to life through his brilliant and unique graphic design. You’ll also notice some exclusive handbags available only at EDGE OF URGE. We’re obsessed with how this look book turned out, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Shout out to Cameron Jennings for the layout, and our gorg model Michelle Cicchetti, who you’ll recognize from our EX-CRUSHES look book! For the girl who likes to turn up the heat, the girl who likes a little extra spark in her ensemble, from neon-iPad cases to mini paint-splatter back-packs, it’s HIGH VOLTAGE!
The wait is over to get your hands on the new EX-CRUSHES handbags with the MIKE, HAAN, IAN WEST and ROMERO bags now available at PLUM FOR POLLY! The Mike in red floral is great for holiday parties; a great accent piece that takes a little black dress (or floor length maxi) to the next level. The Haan in multi-patchwork is great for a day on the go when you need a little extra room, but don’t want to be weighed down by a traditional messenger. Compliment your fall look with the western accents of the Ian West in brown suede, or for a night on the town check out the Romero, all the room you need, and a perfect amount of animal print.
In part 2 of our FASHION LANE blog crush series, we follow Alexandra Sherman as she styles the latest LF look book DAYDREAM NATION. Not only are we obsessed with the title, namesake of one of our favorite records by Sonic Youth, but the dusty colors are a perfect fit for fall. We’re also so excited to see some of our favorite JCs make the cut in this epic, desert-inspired look book. Take a look for yourself, and check out the entire masterpiece over at LFSTORES.COM. Now, back to our own daydreams…
Remeber when we invaded LF a few weeks ago to style some looks paired with our favorite new JC shoes? Well, our blog crush Alexandra Sherman of GO FASHION LANE takes it one step further with two amazing look books featuring some of the hottest new JCs styled immaculately with the latest threads from LF. There were so many great looks to choose from, we had to dedicate not one, but two posts to A. Sherman. Check out this first one from her CARDIGANS 101 look book, and stay tuned for part two, where you can check out her amazing work on the LF DAYDREAM NATION LB!
Okay, by now you get it: we’re obsessed with our interns. They’re such hard workers, we don’t know how they also find time to stay so fierce, but while they’re at it, we might as well let them take over our blog, right? That’s where our new weekly segment Sophia Says comes into play. For one post a week, we’re letting our intern Sophia Callahan have free reign over the blog. Since she’s muy major, we can already promise her posts will be the same (but we somehow have a feeling she could make reading the phone-book super cute). Check out our first installment of Sophia Says where she takes us on a trip to Daphne Guinness’ couture closet and the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise. And make sure to check back every Wednesday – we’re a day late on this post folks :/ – for more Sophia Says!
We LOVE Britney here at the NYC showroom. On any given day you can catch us listening to any one of her six flawless pop records (our favorite is either Britney or In The Zone). We’re so happy to see her back on top of her game, and we can’t help feeling nostalgia for some of those classic Britney looks from yesteryear. Sure, Brit wasn’t always the most fashion-forward, but she was always doing her own thing, and wearing something uniquely Britney. Looking back, she started more trends than we realized, for better or worse, and whether it translated well to the general public, Ms. Spears always looked flawless. Join us on a trip down memory lane, through the many different fashion faces of this week’s style icon, Britney Spears…
Monday morning in October means it’s time for another edition of LFN with Donna Lisa from WASTELAND. This week our guest blogger hangs out with up-and-coming LA rockers BURROUGHS on the set of their latest music video. Check out the rad photos below, and what being an extra in a music video is really like…
We’ve been following so many major blogs that it’s hard to keep track of them all (and with the advent of tumblr, we’ve completely lost count)! One of our OG go-tos however is the Melbourne wrecking-crew Celine and Annie aka ANNIIEEMAL. Where do we even begin? First off, we’d like to give a shout out to Australian fashion. It’s so fresh and fun, and doesn’t take itself too seriously, but always looks like there was some thought behind it. These girls sum up what we love most about style down under.
Hey 20-somethings! Remember those up there? Remember how they used to scare the bejeebus out of you and keep you up all night, but every year around Halloween-time you’d bust them out and read them with your friends? Forget Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is the end all be all of young adult horror literature. Okay, we love the former two works just as much, but SSTTITD always sent a chill down our spine on those cold autumn nights.
