WHAT WE’RE READING: JUST KIDS
November 3rd, 2011
Okay, we know we’re a little behind on Patti Smith’s Just Kids, but we’re busy folks, okay? We finally got around to cracking open the flawless Ms. Smith’s compelling and touching memoir about her relationship with fellow artist Robert Mappelthorpe, we’ve had a hard time putting it down. From their first meeting in Brooklyn, to their Chelsea Hotel home, this book is not only about the relationship between two people, but also the backdrop of late 1960s and 70s New York, and the explosive artistic and political climate of the time. We’ve said a few times before that if we could go back and live in any time period in any place, it would be tough not to pick 70s New York, so reading this is quite a treat for us. A rare glimpse into the hearts and minds of two of the most influential artists of the last century, Just Kids is JC approved!
