We are not too sure why, but the arrival of the TYLER-P bag in pink metallic suede (named after the BMOC fom Pacific Elementary school) has got us google imaging things like pink magic, pink pony, and or pink clouds. When we look at it, we feel dreamy and want to do nothing but run through meadows as our long hair and pink suede fringe flow through the air. Next week Rihanna will drop her sixth – yes sixth - album since her debut in 2005. And since 2005, the 23-year-old (?!!!?!) has sold more than 20 million albums, 60 million singles, is the youngest artist to have 11 number 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, and is tied with Whitney Houston in third place amongst female artists with the most #1s on the charts behind Madonna and Mariah Carey. If anyone’s doubting this girl’s staying power – or at least stamina – think again. Rihanna churns out album, after album like it’s nothing, yet the most interesting part is that the content – at least on the last four of her six releases – has actually been pretty good. Talk That Talk is no exception. The album – out officially on November 21 in the US – has already spawned a #1 single with “We Found Love” and it’s latest offering to radio, the mid-tempo island opener “You Da One” seems like another surefire hit for the Barbadian pop-star. The standard edition of the album is 10 songs and one interlude, and in the simplest of terms, is quite dirty. “Cockiness” and “Birthday Cake” could make Madonna’s Erotica record blush, yet Rihanna has a playfulness and swagger to her that can somehow save a sexually-explicit track from becoming sleazy.

Talk That Talk is definitely the most cohesive record Rihanna has released, trimming the fat and keeping with the fast-paced club bangers that her fans want from her. Based on it’s production, songwriting and song construction, It’s almost as if Talk That Talk is a Rihanna Greatest Hits collection, but with all brand new material.Title track “Talk That Talk” sees Rih Rih re-uniting mentor Jay-Z a la “Umbrella”, and “Roc Me Out” sounds like an evil twin (in a good way) to “Rude Boy” from her darker 2009 masterpiece Rated R. “Where Have You Been” is like “Don’t Stop The Music” on steroids. And if you thought the Avril Lavigne sample was good on “Cheers” wait until you hear what she does with “Intro” by the xx on “Drunk On Love.”  Rihanna said of her 2010 album Loud that she wanted to record an album of songs that only Rihanna could sing. While Loud arguably officially solidified Rihanna as a global superstar, Talk That Talk is that album. It’s a quick 37 minute glimpse into Rihanna’s world, and we’re glad to be living in it.
